Energy Bills Rebate package
On 3 February 2022, the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer outlined The Energy Bills Rebate package, which includes the following measures:
- The Energy Bills Rebate - a GBP 200 reduction in domestic electricity customers’ bills from October 2022 in Great Britain. This will be recouped through domestic energy bills over five years from 2023, up to a maximum annual value of GBP 40 per domestic customer.
- Council Tax Rebate – a GBP 150 Council Tax Rebate payment for all households that are liable for Council Tax in Bands A-D in England.
- GBP 144 million discretionary funding for Local Authorities in England to support households not eligible for the core Council Tax Rebate scheme.
This policy was replaced by the Energy Bill Support Scheme (EBSS) on 1st April 2022.
