Energy Efficiency Market Report 2021: Highlights and takeaways for Latin America
The IEA publishes an annual Energy Efficiency Market Report (EEMR) that evaluates the annual update on global developments in energy efficiency to understand the role of energy efficiency in the energy system. The Energy Efficiency Report was released past November. Now, the International Energy Agency (IEA) is co-organising with the Mexican Energy Ministry (SENER) and the National Commission of Energy Efficient Use (CONUEE) a new webinar session to present main results of the energy efficiency flagship publication to the audience in Mexico and Latin America region.
IEA will release the 2021 edition, which includes analysis of energy data, policies and technology trends in energy efficiency. It provides a comprehensive view of energy efficiency trends worldwide and a deep dive into energy efficiency and net zero by 2050, building on the IEA’s Net Zero Report and 2021 World Energy Outlook.

Since 2014 the IEA has co-organised a total of 28 webinars in Latin America on a range of energy efficiency topics, as part of the Energy Efficiency in Emerging Economies (E4) Programme. These have focused on policies and technologies, the multiple benefits of energy efficiency, Energy Efficiency Market Reports and many other energy efficiency topics. Cumulatively, the webinars have been attended by almost 6 000 people (5 859) from a wide range of backgrounds, sectors and countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay), with more than half of the audience for these in Mexico.
The aim of the webinars is to increase awareness and knowledge of energy efficiency opportunities amongst federal and local governments, academia, private organisations and other relevant stakeholders in key E4 partner countries Mexico and Brazil, as well as other Latin American nations.
