SDG7 Database
Historical time series on access to electricity and clean cooking (SDG 7.1) and progress towards SDG targets on renewables (SDG 7.2) and energy efficiency (SDG 7.3)
This data set is updated as a part of the IEA’s role as co-custodian for tracking progress on Sustainable Development Goal 7. The other co-custodians include International Renewable Energy Agency, United Nations Statistics Division, the World Bank, and World Health Organisation.

Access to clean cooking
This database reports on the share of population with clean cooking access, defined as a household having access to (and making primary use of) modern fuels and technologies, including natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), electricity, ethanol and biogas, or intermediate and advanced improved biomass cook stoves (ISO tier ≥ 1). Shares are provided for regions and over 100 individual countries from 2000 to 2022 in five-year increments. Also provides the total population without access and the population relying on traditional use of biomass in 2022. The main source was the World Health Organisation (WHO) Household Energy Database, which compiles national survey data on household cooking practices at urban and rural levels.
